Eighty-six (86) human civilizations ranging from tiny South Sea island principalities to mighty Rome have been studied. Historian, Arnold Toynbee, anthropologist, J.D. Unwin, economist, Joseph Schumpeter, and historian, Will Durant, are undisputed world-class authorities. And they all agreed:

A society's destiny is linked inseparably to the limits it imposes on sexual expression and that those sexual constraints correlate directly to its theological sophistication and religious commitment.

The most primitive societies had only rudimentary spiritual beliefs and virtually no restrictions on sexual expression, whereas societies with more sophisticated theologies placed greater restrictions on sexual expression, and achieved greater social development.

In particular, cultures that adopt what J.D. Unwin dubbed "absolute monogamy" proved to be the most vigorous, economically productive, artistically creative, scientifically innovative and geographically expansive societies on earth.

History has plainly demonstrated that a society's acceptance of homosexuality is a primary common denominator in that society’s extinction.  It’s not personal, it’s history. Societies unravel when their moral foundation is undermined.

Moral Law and Moral Government

In getting a sane, simple understanding of this subject, we must consider a study of moral law and moral government.

‘Civil Rights Protection’ and Behavior

Since the 1989 book entitled After the Ball: How America Will Conquer its Fear and Hatred of Gays in the 90s, legal theorists and litigators argue that homosexuals were a class of citizens denied basic civil liberties, and that the courts should declare them to be a protected class, using civil rights precedents to force a moral and legal revolution.

The book After the Ball: How America Will Conquer its Fear and Hatred of Gays in the 90s criticized then-current, failed strategies among homosexual activists. It called for a clear shift to something different. Rather than continuing to try to gain the sympathy of a politician here or there, authors Kirk and Madsen boldly admitted their intent was to manipulate American sensibilities by using pro-homosexual propaganda. They advocated using television, radio, the mainstream press, and the power of advertising to get their message out.

“At the core of our program is a media campaign to change the way average citizens view homosexuality,” they said.

The goal was to enter the living rooms of the average American, especially via television, and propagandize them. Kirk and Madsen said TV is

“the most graphic and intrusive medium for our message. In everyday life, intrusiveness is considered impolite; but not in public communications, where nine-tenths of the challenge is simply getting people’s attention. …[T]elevision is the most cogent medium, combining sight, sound, and motion to make new pictures so vivid that they can displace the old.”  (Emphasis in the original.)

While recognizing the complexity of issues related to sexual orientation, we obviously cannot define a behavior as an intrinsic characteristic such as skin color or nationality. On that basis, why not grant pedophilia or theft the same civil rights protection?

The Recent Cure of Homosexuality as Disease

In 1973, the American Psychiatric Association (APA) was begrudgingly forced to censor homosexuality from its Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (“DSM-II”). This resulted after homosexual activist groups’ historical political pressure and bullying practices. In an effort to explain how that decision came about, this page briefly presents some of the historical political pressure and bullying practices that first led to expunging homosexuality from Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM).

Until 1973, the American Psychiatric Association “would never take a position publicly that was not supported by unbiased, open scientific research and evidence, that it had to be scientifically demonstrated.” By its own admission, homosexual political stances came to overriding the science. Until 1973, the APA regarded adult homosexuality as a mental disorder, a condition deviating from normal, heterosexual development. The presence of deviant gender behavior or feelings were symptoms of the disease or disorder to which mental health professionals needed to attend. The evidence held that some internal defect or external pathogenic agent caused homosexuality and that such events can occur pre- or postnatally (i.e., intrauterine hormonal exposure, excessive mothering, inadequate or hostile fathering, sexual abuse, etc.).

Psychiatric pathology viewed homosexuality as an illness. For example, psychiatrist and psychoanalyst Edmund Bergler wrote for general audiences in his prominent book, Homosexuality: Disease or Way of Life, “I have no bias against homosexuals; for me they are sick people requiring medical help... I would say: Homosexuals are essentially disagreeable people, regardless of their pleasant or unpleasant outward manner... their shell is a mixture of superciliousness [contemptuous arrogance], fake aggression, and whimpering. Like other psychic masochists, they are subservient when confronted with a stronger person, merciless when in power, unscrupulous about trampling on a weaker person” (Bergler E. Homosexuality: Disease or Way of Life. Hill & Wang; New York, NY, USA: 1956, pp. 28–29).

‘Marriage Equality’ Slogan Still Doesn’t Add Up

The law will either teach marriage as consenting adult love of whatever size or shape the adults choose, or it will teach marriage as a comprehensive union of sexually complementary spouses who live by the norms of monogamy, exclusivity, and permanency, so children can be raised by their mom and dad. There is no third option. There is no neutral position; the law will embrace one or the other.

And “marriage as consenting adult love” cannot explain or justify any of the distinctive commitments marriage requires—monogamy, exclusivity, and permanence—nor can it explain what interest the government has in it. Understand more here

God is More Interested in Healthy Societies than Political Correctness

The world's greatest researchers of cultural decline are strikingly parallel to the Bible's.

From the time of the founding of the U.S.A. up until the current era, most Americans held the Bible to be their ultimate guidebook and took very seriously the clear biblical teachings, including the warning in Romans 1:18-32 that societies perish when they fall to widespread sexual immorality. In what would now be considered a most politically incorrect statement, the Bible condemns people who, "Sexually confused, they abused and defiled one another, women with women, men with men—all lust, no love. And as a result, they suffered within themselves the penalty they so richly deserved.” The further they turn away from God, their "debased minds," "vile passions" and other sins (shortcomings continued) become so bad that God eventually judges them and they are destroyed, records the Bible.

The cultural divide concerning the family, especially in the area of marriage, is growing. Hollywood films, television, and other media have launched an aggressive campaign to normalize same-sex relationships. Educational institutions, in the name of tolerance, seek to legitimize these relationships, and our courts and even churches wrestle with the issue.

Exchanging the Creator’s design for the creature’s desire is the root from which same-sex relationships sprang.

Same-Sex Sexuality and Divine Instruction

The mind of the Creator is plainly seen in His original design. Genesis clearly states that God created Adam, a male, and Eve, a female (Genesis 2:7–25). God created two individuals who complemented each other and who were to become one. From physical observation, it is easy to see how a male and a female are made to fit together. Furthermore, the natural reproductive process requires a male and a female. This original design was affirmed by Christ recorded at Matthew 19:4 and Mark 10:6, where Y’shua (Jesus) quotes Genesis as literal history. Genesis clearly reveals the foundation for the doctrine of marriage.

The Creator’s design for marriage is affirmed throughout Scripture. Commitment is commanded (Genesis 2:18–24; Malachi 2:13–16; 1 Corinthians 7:32–34; Hebrews 13:4), and roles are clearly delineated (Genesis 3:17–19; Proverbs 5:17–19; 31:11–28; 1 Corinthians 7:1–3; Ephesians 5:22–33; Titus 2:1–5).

In Romans 1:26–27 God identifies same-sex relationships as symptomatic of His giving individuals over to unnatural affections. In Romans 1:17–32; 3:23, the Apostle Paul discusses the universal sinfulness (depravity) of humanity since Adam and Eve’s fall. Romans 1 addresses the progressive manifestation of God’s wrath upon a society that rebelled against Him — Romans 1:24, 26 says that God “gave them up,” and Romans 1:28 says that He “gave them over.” Each giving up or giving over statement is God’s response to the disobedience of His created people (Romans 1:21–23, 25, 28). Each instance is negative, not positive.

To define “unnatural” in the context of Romans 1, Christians must compare the affections they were given up to and the natural affections at creation (Romans 1:18–20). God’s design was male and female. Jesus the Christ Himself said, “But from the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female” (Mark 10:6). Same-sex desire is unnatural. It goes against the creative order and exchanges the Creator’s position and truth for the creature’s desire (Romans 1:25). Scripturally, same-sex relationships are one of many immoral behaviors that people, even some who are religious, practice in rebellion against God’s original design for the family (1 Corinthians 6:9; 2 Timothy 3:1–7).

The Creator clearly tells us what is right and wrong. God does make it clear that homosexuality is missing the mark; wrong—a shortcoming continued—sin (Romans 1:21–27; 1 Corinthians 6:9; 1 Timothy 1:8–10), just as drunkenness, greed, sexual immorality, idolatry, and stealing are sins (shortcomings continued). If we discount what the Creator considers sin, then anything is permissible and there are no absolutes. If homosexuality is not a sin, then God cannot be a reliable source for what sin is, and so murder, rape, stealing, idolatry, etc., may not be believed to be sins by some.

Homosexuality is a form of adultery; it is an unmarried sexual relationship. Please note that it is placed with many other sins:

“Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.” (1 Corinthians 6:9–11)

“But we know that the Law is good, if one uses it lawfully, realizing the fact that law is not made for a righteous person, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound teaching,” (1 Timothy 1:8–10)

The point is, though, that even a single sin is worthy of death and that we are all sinners. But in Christ we are made new (2 Corinthians 5:17; Ephesians 4:17–24). As Christians, though we may not be perfect because of our flesh (e.g., sinful nature), we must allow the Holy Spirit compassionately train us to be more and more like Christ (Rom. 8:28-29; 2 Cor. 3:18; 1 John 2:4–6; Gen. 1:26), and the Holy Spirit enables us to live lives that please God (Philippians 2:13).

Since homosexuality is a form of adultery, God also has this to say about it:

“You shall not commit adultery.” (Exodus 20:14) (By the way, this was a radical notion at the time—with a people who had been literal slaves for generations in Egypt’s depraved culture.)

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery’; but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” (Matthew 5:27–28)

Jesus the Christ (Y’shua Messiah) graciously reassures us that adultery is wrong and that even just by looking at someone lustfully we have committed adultery. And since we know God instituted marriage as between a man and a woman, as Jesus reiterates when asked about divorce (Mark 10:6–8), then any other form of union, whether it be a man and a man or a woman and a woman, is not marriage as defined by God. Therefore, a homosexual relationship is a form of adultery, which is sin. And all forms of unrepentant sin have the same punishment: death (Romans 6:23).

In times past (including the Old Testament), death was the corporal punishment for certain sins; however when  Jesus (Y’shua) came, He took the punishment for sin on Himself showing mercy to sinners and calling them to repent—change direction and attitude (e.g., the adulteress woman in John 8)—an example we should follow. Some ‘Christians’ do not follow what Christ said about loving those who do not know Him (Luke 5:30–32) or forgiving those who have sinned (Matthew 6:14–15). They should help and forgive instead of acting as judge, jury, and executioner. God will be the Judge (1 Corinthians 5:12–13). God asks us to love them as He does and for us to forgive others as He has forgiven us (Ephesians 4:32–5:2).

Unfortunately, most people re-interpret God’s Word to justify their sins (shortcomings continued). But when we take away the foundation, what do we have left to stand on? (Psalm 11:3; Luke 6:47–49) If we cannot trust God’s Word when He tells us of earthly things (i.e., Creation, the Flood, etc.), then how will we trust Him about heavenly things (i.e., sin, salvation, repentance, etc.)?

“If I told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things?” (John 3:12)

The only interpretation that counts is God’s interpretation (2 Peter 1:20–21). There is no reason to trust interpretations when God already tells us how to interpret His Word (plainly/straightforward in 2 Corinthians 4:2 and Proverbs 8:8–9). Regardless of what any man or culture says, God’s truth is always relevant. And only truth about what is sin and what is not sin can come from Him, because He does not change like the culture (Numbers 23:19; 1 Samuel 15:29; Malachi 3:6; Hebrews 13:8). He is the all-knowing, ever-truthful, unconditional-loving, always-relevant Creator; God.

Help is a Requirement

According to the Bible, we each have sin in our lives (1 John 1:8) too. Therefore none of us can afford to be self-righteous or hypocrites. Help is what is needed—help from the body of Christ, genuine followers of Y’shua the Messiah (Jesus the Christ). Remember, it’s God’s goodness [loving kindness] that brings people to repentance (change of direction and attitude) (Romans 2:4).

“A servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him [the devil] to do his will.” (2 Timothy 2:24-26)

“Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not charity (love), I have become meaningless noise like loud brass or a clanging cymbal.” (1 Corinthians 13:1)

Help!

If you’re struggling with this or other issue(s) that you cannot overcome with your own willpower, know that God loves you one hundred percent, regardless of your past, present and future. God’s love is unconditional. The benefits of God’s promises, however, are conditional. Be strongly encouraged to earnestly pray asking God for help. God really wants to help each of us in every life-problem. Rest assured that if you are earnest in your asking, you will experience the power of God’s love moving mightily and positively on your behalf.  Ask God for healing of your spirit, soul, and body. Ask God for authentic ministerial help. Co-operate with the Plan of God, and a specific plan that has proven effective for so many earnest people around the world: Successful Happiness as You Have Never Been Taught.

God is More Interested in Healthy Societies of Healthy Individuals than Political Correctness

God demonstrates in 1 Corinthians 5 that a local church (assembly of connected fellowship of Christians) may be required to excommunicate an individual who claims to be a Christian yet continues to practice immorality. This demonstration is not only for the good of the church body but is also best for the individual (1 Cor. 5:5).

This exclusion required the members to withdraw all fellowship and spiritual influence from the individual, and to quit praying for him, so as to permit Satan (the enemy) to afflict his body thus perhaps bringing him to repentance (change of direction & attitude), that his soul might be saved in the end.

This exclusion was effective, for in the second letter Apostle Paul wrote the church to forgive the individual lest he should be overcome by excessive sorrow (2 Cor. 2:6-7). The church was also then charged to reaffirm their love toward him (2 Cor. 2:8)!

Five Truths About Same Sex Attraction

Sixteen Biblical reasons for excommunication:

1.   Refusing to make peace (Mt. 18:15)

2.   Causing divisions (Rom. 16:17)

3.   Fornication (sexual immorality 1 Cor. 5:11-13)

4.   Covetousness (lust 1 Cor. 5:11-13)

5.   Idolatry (first love is not God 1 Cor. 5:11-13)

6.   Trouble making (1 Cor. 5:11-13)

7.   Drunkenness (intoxicants-using 1 Cor. 5:11-13)

8.   Extortion (swindling 1 Cor. 5:11-13)

9.   Refusal to love God (1 Cor. 16:22)

10. Unbelief, infidelity (2 Cor. 6:14)

11. Backsliding (2 Cor. 13:1-2,10)

12. Disorderly conduct (2 Th. 3:6)

13. Defying the truth (2 Th. 3:14)

14. Denying faith (1 Tim. 1:19-20)

15. False teaching (1 Tim. 6:3-5; 2Jn. 1:10)

16. Being a heretic (Tit. 3:10-11)

Ten classes in 1 Corinthians 6 not to be saved:

1.  Fornicators (the sexually immoral, 1 Cor. 6:9)

2.  Idolaters (false worshipers; those whose first love is not God, 1 Cor. 6:9)

3.  Adulterers (the unfaithful, 1 Cor. 6:9)

4.  Effeminate (men who have feminine traits to an inappropriate degree; lacking in manly strength or aggressiveness; especially marked with weakness, softness, and love of ease; excessively affected in his emotions, 1 Cor. 6:9)

5.  Abusers of themselves with mankind (homosexuals, lesbians, sexual perverts (1 Cor. 6:9; 1 Tim. 1:10; cp. Rom. 1:27)

6.   Thieves (robbers, 1 Cor. 6:10)

7.   Covetous (the lustful, 1 Cor. 6:10)

8.   Drunkards (users of intoxicants, 1 Cor. 6:10)

9.   Revilers (abusers of others, 1 Cor. 6:10)

10. Extortioners (swindlers, 1 Cor. 6:10)

Eighteen Shortcomings Continued (Sins) of Homosexuals (1 Timothy 1:8–10)

1.    Practice sex perversion (Jude 1:8; Romans 1).

2.    Pride / Arrogance (Ezekiel 16:49-50).

3.    Despise government and law (Jude 1:8).

4.    Insult rulers (Jude 1:8; 2 Peter 2).

5.    Speak evil in ignorance (Jude 1:10).

6.    Corrupt themselves (Jude 1:10; Romans 1).

7.    Commit sin in maintaining error in religion (Jude 1:11; Genesis 4).

8.    Serve in religion for gain (Jude 1:11; 2 Peter 2:15; Numbers 31:8,16).

9.     Rebel like Korah (Jude 1:11; Numbers 16).

10.   Practice hypocrisy (Jude 1:12).

11.   Commit ungodly deeds (Jude 1:15; Romans 1).

12.   Blaspheme God (Jude 1:15).

13.   Murmur and complain (Jude 1:16).

14.   Live in ungodly lusts (Jude 1:4,16,18).

15.     Brag and boast (Jude 1:16).

16.     Mock truth (Jude 1:18; 2 Peter 3:3).

17.     Live in sensual lusts (Ezekiel 16:49; Jude 1:19).

18.     Adultery (Matthew 5:27).

"Whoa!" many might say. "Isn't that just a bunch of superstitious, judgmental, dead-white-man talk that no one takes seriously anymore?" Depending on the reader's worldview, such biblical warnings are an ancient and malevolent fairy tale, or else they resonate as strongly worded truth.

1 Corinthians 5:10-13:  Note that this does not apply to unbelievers who indulge in sexual sin, or who are greedy, or who swindle, or whose first love is not our God. You would have to leave this world to avoid people like that. What does apply is that we are to avoid association with those who claim to be a Christian yet indulges in sexual sin, or is greedy, or whose first love is not God, or is predatory, or a drunkard, or a swindler. Don't even eat with such people. It isn't your responsibility to judge outsiders, but it certainly is your job as a collective church body to judge those inside the church who are sinning in these ways. God will judge those on the outside; but as the Scriptures say, ‘You must remove the evil person from among you.’” (See also Deuteronomy 17:7)

We, as individuals, condemn ourselves when we judge others.  - Matthew 7:1-2; Luke 6:37; Romans 2:1; 14:13; 1 Corinthians 4:5

The Big Picture

The plan of God is to end evil and suffering forever (Exodus 34:6-7; Matthew 13:37-43; I Corinthians 15:24-28; 1 Timothy 1:5; Revelation 21-22). The ultimate purpose of God in all His present dealings with man is to bring him back to the place where he was before the fall (beloved fellowship) and purge him of all possibility of failing in the future. “The object and purpose of our instruction and charge is that all believers would be filled with love that comes from a pure heart, and a clear conscience, and genuine faith.”  —1 Timothy 1:5

Individuals and Families of Civilizations

Having a father and a mother committed in marriage to each other gives children the best chance at a flourishing future. When children have that, governments are also less likely to succeed in their efforts to grow the welfare state. Understand more of the benefits of family for children and adults.

What is being hailed as the most scientifically credible study so far on the issue demonstrates that children are harmed by growing up in homosexual and lesbian households. Simply put, science is proving that having a father and a mother really matters:

“Children raised by same-sex parents are far more likely to commit homosexual acts themselves than other kids.”

"You're more likely basically to get molested in a household led by two lesbians. You're more likely to have sexually transmitted diseases. You're more likely to identify as homosexual. You're more likely to be on public assistance."

"[And] you're more likely to have been forced to have sex unwillingly. Big difference [there] -- 8 percent in a normal household versus 31 percent in a household led by lesbians."

“In addition, one raised in a homosexual or lesbian household is more likely to have thoughts of suicide.”
